The third day of racing for the 2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship has been canceled once again due to inclement weather in Mar del Plata.
The event, organized by Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association, proceeded today with very calm winds blowing from the southeast and rotating eastwards at around 8 knots. A storm was on the horizon in the afternoon, so there was only one race.
In the only race of the day, Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester, a four-time world champion and former Olympic champion, showed off her skills by winning with a huge lead from the start.
In the overall standings, the top two positions remained unchanged from the previous day, with Danish and reigning Olympic champion Anne-Marie Lindom maintaining her lead despite the light wind. Sweden’s Josefin Olsson remained in second place, German sailor Julia Büsselberg moved up to third, and the Netherlands’ Maxime Jonker followed closely in fourth after dropping out of the race.
Today’s race concludes qualifying, and tomorrow the teams will be divided into gold and silver.
