Tulare, Calif. (KGET) — The World Ag Expo is back in Tulare, and this year it’s going robotic.
Amazone Inc.’s Jeffrey Schott says he’s passionate about agricultural technology in 2024.
“It’s very exciting to see so much technology,” Schott said. “Camera technology has been introduced and a lot of automation has been introduced.”
GUSS is much more than that. GUSS is an all-electric, autonomous sprayer that operates 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, without any breaks.
But at the expo you can not only talk about tractors, you can also drive them.
Fruit grower Aaron Asai said he drove the largest tractor on the site. “It was great! I could sit in it for months,” he said.
Mr. Asai drove from his 100-acre farm in Oregon to his first agricultural expo. He grows 300 tons of cherries a year.
“I was hoping to come back with something, but this year has been a really bad year,” Asai said.
The 57th Annual World Agriculture Expo offers more than just the latest tractor technology. Classic tractors are also available. A piece of agricultural history sells for about $40,000.
“I have an old Case 73, one of 378 made, making for a truly unique International. This is a 504, one of only nine made,” says Key. said Mike Colombo of Dollar Cab.
And it wouldn’t be World Ag Expo without the famous tri-tip sandwich. It takes 3,700 pounds of beef to satisfy the crowd.
“Every year we use a special blend of seasonings, so we get a big crowd and we’re excited to be here,” said Ashley Atwell of the Alpaugh Historical Society.
The 2024 World Agriculture Expo will feature more than 1,200 exhibitors, 2.6 million square feet of space, and agricultural tours. Yes, tractor rides are free.
The World Ag Expo runs through Thursday. General admission is $20. Children 6 and under are admitted free.
