On March 1, the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund (MOSTF) Board of Directors announced funding approval for the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Foundation’s (MWFP Foundation) $24,000 scholarship program funding application .
The foundation is committed to helping Mississippi’s youth take the first steps toward becoming lifelong, safe hunters and outdoor recreationists. By providing these scholarships as incentives, the Foundation supports students and their schools to participate in the Archery School of Mississippi (AIMS) and Mississippi Scholastic Shooting Sports Program (MSSP) and pursue careers in conservation and outdoor recreation. I hope to pursue it.
The foundation requested funding from the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund. We proposed $24,000 in matching dollars for scholarships to support the college education of the aforementioned program participants. These scholarships are competitively awarded to students based on their performance in competitions sponsored by the program.
“This first award from MOSTF and our foundation’s match allows us to provide $48,000 to students this year alone,” said John Taylor, MWFP Foundation President.
MOSTF, established by the Mississippi Outdoor Management Act (Regular Session of 2022, House Bill 606), serves as a funding mechanism to encourage investment in outdoor recreation and conservation projects.
This legislation is sponsored in part by the Foundation through a partnership with the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Coalition (which includes the Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Mississippi Wildlife Conservancy) and is a partnership between counties, local governments, and It aims to expand access to these projects by non-governmental organizations. , providing opportunities for enhanced outdoor experiences and conservation efforts across the state.
