What better time than now to get ready for the new year? On today’s episode of The Small Business Show, we discuss everything entrepreneurs need to know about branding their business in 2024. We are pleased to welcome Bill Harper, his CEO and Chief Creative Officer, to BrandBoss headquarters.
Branding refers to the story a company wants people to associate with its business. Nowadays, “entertainment” is an important element that companies should pay attention to. Additionally, companies often misunderstand and misinterpret marketing when it is actually performance. In fact, your greatest marketing strength comes from the assets that provide the most value to your target audience.
Important points:
1. Consumers buy products because they relate to the story behind the brand. Take PC and Mac commercials, for example. It doesn’t talk about products, but the emphasis is on storytelling.
2. Many successful companies design their products with consumer needs in mind and allow consumers to express themselves. Social media has proven to be a valuable tool for marketing your brand.
3. Harper said social media has the word “social” in it because it allows companies to connect personally with their audiences. Therefore, sharing your brand’s story on social media is an effective way to engage your audience. Additionally, social media provides a great platform to showcase your brand behind the scenes.
Four. Here are the strategies Harper recommends for businesses in 2024:
-
- Simplicity – Companies are losing sight of what it means to tell a good story. That means our heroes don’t change.
- Gain consumer insights and understand what’s important to your target audience.
- Consistency – “It’s like going to the gym. You won’t get big overnight, but you know it will happen someday. So keep going until it happens,” says Harper.
Five. For startups and small businesses, being transparent and connecting personally with your audience helps build trust and establish your brand.
“Marketing is really performance that companies misinterpret.” – Bill Harper
