Today is the last day of the 2024 World Championship and we have to cover a very easy qualifying session. The only events in the morning are the men’s 400 IM, women’s 400 IM, men’s 4×100 medley relay, and women’s 4×100 medley relay. At the past two world championships (Budapest 2022 and Fukuoka 2023), the men’s 400 IM was held on the first day of the event. But here in Doha, it was returned to its normal position on the final day.
Team USA is the top seed in the men’s 400 IM carson foster. Foster won silver medals in this event at the past two world championships, posting exactly the same time (4:06.56) in both finals.Japanese Daiya Seto,Italian Alberto Lazzettiand New Zealand Lewis Clairvert One of the other candidates to keep an eye on.
The women’s 400IM entry sheet is from the UK. Freya Colbert, seeded with a time of 4:35.28.Italian Sarah Franceschiof Israel Anastasia Gorbenko,French Cyriel Duhameland Canadian teammates Tess Chepurcha and Ella Jansen There are other people worth keeping an eye on as well.
Defending champion Team USA will compete in the men’s medley relay. Assuming they make it to tonight’s final, they look like heavy favorites to win. The women’s relay race is expected to be a close battle between Australia, Sweden, Canada and the Netherlands. Notably, the U.S. women’s team chose to scratch this medley relay, meaning they will not have a chance to defend their world title.
