houston – A Houston business owner expressed frustration after his Newly Acquired Wealth & Fashion (NAWF) store was robbed for the 11th time, resulting in the loss of nearly $50,000 worth of merchandise. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in the 12700 block of North Freeway.
Derrick Bass, the owner of NAWF, told FOX 26 that this intrusion not only affects him personally, but also affects the entire community as other stores in the area are also targeted. Told.

Bass and his brother Matthew Archald started NAWF from scratch, but seeing their efforts repeatedly violated took an even greater emotional toll.

“They went with expensive brands and local brands because we’re trying to support all the locals with clothing brands in the city,” Basu said.
The thieves have also been spotted in the back storage room where the most valuable items, including Jordans, Nikes, Basing Ape shoes and letterman jackets, are kept overnight. Video from a nearby camera showed the suspects driving away in a U-Haul truck.
This recent incident marks the 11th time NAWF has been targeted, with the most tragic incident occurring on March 19, 2022. During the robbery attempt, Bass’ brother Matthew Archardo was shot and killed inside the store.

“It hurts me and it makes me angry. To be honest, now that I’m blind, I don’t think it hurts as much,” Bass said.
Basu’s ordeal continued, and last May he was attacked and shot twice in the face after returning home after closing his shop. The injury left him blind. Despite constant threats and violence, he remains committed to keeping NAWF’s doors open on the notoriously crime-ridden North Side.

“I feel like I’m not treating my brother’s life fairly if I just pick him up and walk away. He didn’t sacrifice his life just for me to pick him up and run away,” Bass said. said. No suspects have been identified in the recent robberies, but Bass urged anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department.
Three men have been charged with capital murder in the death of Matthew Archald and are awaiting trial almost two years later.
