CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago police issued an alert after three stores were robbed within 30 minutes on the North and Northwest Sides.
The robbery occurred between 5:30 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the Logan Square, Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods.
According to Chicago police, four men broke the front windows of each store with hammers, entered the premises and stole cash registers containing cash before fleeing in a yellow KIA sedan.
Time and location of incident:
- West Fullerton Avenue 2600 block, 5:30 a.m.
- West Wilson Avenue 1700 block 05:47 am
- 5:53 a.m., 5700 block of North Ravenswood Avenue.
The suspects are described as four black males, between 5-foot-5 and 6-feet tall, weighing between 110 and 160 pounds, wearing all black and wearing red gloves. They were armed with claw hammers with wooden handles.
Police advise the public to:
- Please be aware of this crime and be aware of neighboring businesses.
- If you come into contact with a criminal, do not try to explain why.
- Please be especially careful of suspicious persons wandering around the area.
- Make sure your existing surveillance cameras are working and recording.
- Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the assailant, including vehicle description and license plate information.
