The College of Business Administration has added Mark Afable as resident director of insurance.
Mr. Afable, a lecturer in financial practice, has a decades-long career in the insurance industry, culminating in his service as Wisconsin’s insurance commissioner from 2019 to 2021. He was also the Chief Legal Officer of American Family Insurance, a Fortune 500 company. A company headquartered in Madison. Mr. Afable currently serves on the board of directors of American Family. Afable is a two-time graduate of Marquette University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1979 and a Juris Doctorate from Marquette Law School in 1983.
Since coming to Marquette, Mr. Afable has co-taught classes and provided strategic direction to the university on insurance issues.

With the addition of Mr. Afable, the total number of resident officers will be seven. Market Business launched its Executive in Residence program in 2019, with Hanley joining as its first participant. Resident executives are executive-level leaders who leverage their networks to deepen the university’s engagement with the business community. Some offer support directly to students.
