Grenier could defend the leader’s chair over the next 10 racers and move up 11 positions up the leaderboard to finish 11th (+6.05). The second run was the fourth fastest.
The woman who could knock Grenier off the lead was Norwegian speed star Kaisa Vikhof-Lee. She used the starting number she earned by scoring over 500 points in the speed event. However, in her first World Cup GS, she finished the day in 10th place (+5.52).
Stifel U.S. Ski Team’s Paula Molzahn also struggled on the morning course. Although he couldn’t match Grenier’s effort, he moved up five places to finish 16th (+6,74).
