This role requires a journalist who isn’t afraid to cultivate sources, jump on requests for comment, and report the scoop. This person covers everything from the existential threat of AI to the latest disruptions on Wall Street, and everything in between, through the lens of entrepreneurship. This reporter helps readers cut through the noise and tell essential stories about the people and companies that shape our world.
We’re looking for a versatile, digitally savvy reporter with a deep understanding of how to reach audiences and can turn complex concepts into stories that are accessible and easy to understand.
you will:
- Suggest and write 2-3 quick-turn reporting articles and analyzes of the day’s news.
- You will also work on enterprise features that are well reported over time.
- We develop a repository of sources that help us break the news and provide unique insights on the day’s top business stories.
- We write under tight deadlines, create digital-friendly headlines, and optimize stories for search.
- Consistently pitch long-lead features during monthly proposal meetings.
you have:
- 3+ years of reporting and writing experience for major publications. Previous experience covering business or technology news is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to produce clean and attractive copy on time.
- Nimble and enterprising, they can pivot on a dime and have an insatiable appetite for captivating online audiences with clicky and compelling story concepts.
- Collaborative spirit and positive attitude.
- A deep understanding of digital-first thinking and audience development practices such as SEO, writing headlines, and pitching stories that resonate with digital audiences.
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Parse.ly, Google Analytics, Google Trends, and Crowdtangle is an added advantage.
