World Market Sets Bergen County Debut

World Market, a chain that offers housewares, crafts and international foods, will soon make its debut in Bergen County with a store opening at Bergen Town Center in Paramus.

The brand will open a 19,265-square-foot ground-level store this year after signing a deal to lease the space previously occupied by Neiman Marcus Last Call, according to Urban Edge Properties, the shopping center’s owner. It is said that it is scheduled to open.

Lee Lyons, Urban Edge’s senior vice president of leasing, called World Market a “great addition to Bergen Town Center’s gift and residential lineup.”

“A popular store of this size will attract new customers to this property where they will find many choices and complementary stores,” Lyons said.

At the mall, World Market will join a retail mix that includes Target, HomeGoods, Marshalls, Burlington, Whole Foods, CVS, Kohl’s, Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth.

The chain’s ownership has gone through several changes, including a nine-year stint as part of Union-based Bed Bath & Beyond’s portfolio.

In 2021, Bed Bath & Beyond sells World Markets to a California private equity firm for $110 million as part of an effort to simplify its business and strengthen its focus on the home, baby, beauty and wellness markets.
