The establishment of this fund provides an excellent means of perpetuating the memory and legacy of Dr. Edward Kosower-Zulu, Professor Emeritus of the TAU Department of Chemistry and incumbent Joseph Criss Professor of Biophysical Organic Chemistry. Together with Dr. Nechama Kosowah, professor emeritus of the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry at the School of Medicine, they have been instrumental in building the university into one of the world’s leading universities.
The Kosower family donated NIS 2,000,000 over seven years for the establishment and operation of the Nechama and Edward Kosower doctoral programs. and M.D. Fellowship Fund. A scientific advisory committee will select candidates. The gift also made it possible to construct a Kosower conference room in the medical director’s suite. The couple’s son, Professor David Kosower, a particle theorist at the Université Paris-Saclay (IPhT), was instrumental in establishing the endowment.
Professor Nechama Kosowah retired in 1996, but that didn’t stop her from continuing her research. She is still active in her lab. Kosower’s research focused on inherited drug-induced anemias and the calpain-calpastatin system. Her research was conducted with the late Professor Edward Kosower, and Nechama once said: [who is a biophysical and organic chemist] It might be fruitful. ”
