The Baptist Healthcare Foundation continues to work with community partners and donors, including local Honda dealers, to raise funds and awareness about the Foundation’s Mammogram Fund. Throughout October, the foundation raised more than $13,000 to donate to the Mammogram Foundation, which helps provide mammograms to those in need in the community.
Since the scheme’s inception 14 years ago, 2,787 people have been tested. As a result of these screenings, 741 people required additional tests, 94 required biopsies, and 32 were diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Foundation would like to thank presenting partners, local Honda dealers, community partners, The Grand Marlin Pensacola Beach, Jewelers Trade Shop, Oyster Bay Boutique Hotel, and all others who supported this effort. We would like to thank our donors.

SRMC promotes heart health education ahead of American Heart Month
As heart disease continues to be one of the leading causes of death in Santa Rosa County, Santa Rosa Medical Center is using the leap year of 2024 to help people with their heart care.
According to the Florida Department of Health, 344 people died from heart disease in Santa Rosa County in 2022, and nearly 60% of them were men. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that one person dies from cardiovascular disease every 36 seconds across the United States.
This February, SRMC is recognizing American Heart Month and encouraging everyone to sign up for the Leap into Heart Health educational email series. Sign up to receive fun, fact-filled, and potentially life-saving short emails designed to improve your heart health. Topics include how to “jump into action”, how to “skip” past stresses, how to “get over” harmful habits, how to “jump” into bed early for better rest, and how to create a stronger, healthier body. It includes other “steps” that anyone can take towards their heart.
In 2023, SRMC will accelerate its mission to help people live healthier lives by expanding its cardiac services to include interventional cardiology services. Santa Rosa Medical Center’s American College of Cardiology Certified Chest Pain Center has since performed more than 50 successful percutaneous coronary interventions, preventing life-threatening heart attacks in our community.
The “Leap to Heart Health” email series will be delivered to your inbox every other day in February with short articles and heart health tips you can try right away. The series also includes warnings about symptoms and conditions that may require medical attention, particularly high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and genetic predisposition to heart disease.

The mayor’s next neighborhood cleanup is scheduled for Saturday.
The next Mayor’s Neighborhood Cleanup will be held on Saturday, January 27th in the downtown area and parts of the surrounding area. During this event, City of Pensacola Sanitation customers in the cleaning area can drop off eligible items at the curb for free pickup. Sanitation personnel at the cleaning area must place items curbside by 7 a.m. on the day of the cleaning. Please note that items left on the roadside outside the cleaning area will not be collected. Cleanup includes bulk items only. Yard waste and rubbish will not be collected.
Store tires and paint cans away from all other debris. Do not place stakes under low-hanging power lines or near poles, fences, or mailboxes. Through the Mayor’s Neighborhood Cleanup Program, every neighborhood in the city is cleaned once a year, from January until October. In addition to Sanitation Services picking up items left at the curb, code enforcement will conduct cleaning areas and address any code violations. For more information, visit cityofpensacola.com.
