worldwide wackTierra Whack’s next album is a gateway to another world. In her album’s first single, “Shower Song,” the rapper offers a glimpse into her daily life.
“Get ready for the day/So you gotta get fresh, get some exfoliation/You know Dove is the best,” Whack sings. “I’m never in a hurry/I’m doing it like a major/And I heard the phone ring/But I’ll call you back later.”
The accompanying music video, featuring animation created with conceptual artist Alex da Corte, features a talking bluebird and a dancing apple adding color to Whack’s morning. Once everything is cleaned up and ready to go, the rapper hops in his car and takes off.
worldwide wackThe piece, which will be released on March 15th, is detailed as a “visual art project” with additional animation by da Corte to maximize the record’s creative output. A press release describes the character Whack plays throughout this clip and other visuals as “an alter ego at once untouchable and vulnerable, superhuman yet painfully human, whose extraordinary story is the album’s “It will be developed through images and videos in the process of visual development.” ”
During a performance with Lil Yachty rolling stoneAt last year’s Musicians on Musicians live event, Whack teased the visual arsenal she has in store while fans eagerly await her new album. “It took me a long time to finish the videos. I have a lot of videos piling up now,” she explained. “Before that, I hadn’t really made anything that I was proud of. I’m just not going to bullshit. It was going to be something that I really valued.”
