Australian cities top the list, but Las Vegas, also known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World,” ranks at the bottom.
From cities famous for their golden beaches to Japan’s historic former capital, we’ve named some of the best cities outside of Europe.
Australia Which one tops the list compiled by the consumer group? – Sydney takes the top spot, with both Melbourne and Perth topping the list.

Meanwhile, several U.S. cities ranked lower on the list, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
This result comes from a study by Which? – The first consumer organization to do so in a city around the world since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rory Borland, ‘Which?’ Editor Travel Inc. says, ‘The top cities in the latest survey can vary widely.
“But they all have one important thing in common: a variety of cultural attractions, great food, and stunning views combine to create an unmistakable ‘wow’ factor and provide visitors with a sensory experience. It means offering a feast.
“Australia is particularly popular, with sunny Sydney attracting tourists with its unique combination of cosmopolitan city life and laid-back beach vibes, while Melbourne and Perth also impress.
“Chicago, on the other hand, offers the best of America at a better price.”
The consumer group asked more than 1,800 members of its online committee to rate their global travel experiences outside of Europe over the past three years and received feedback on more than 3,000 trips.
Places were marked based on seven criteria, including food and beverage quality, cultural and tourist attractions, ease of movement, and value for money.
A city score was then calculated based on a combination of overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend the destination.
Sydney, home to the world-famous Opera House and sunny Bondi Beach, topped the list with an impressive 88% city score.
The city received a series of four-star ratings in categories including accommodation, shopping, dining, and cultural and tourist attractions.

Cape Town came in second place with a city score of 85% and received an impressive five-star rating for food and drink, with visitors noting its “fresh and excellent” seafood and local wine.
Chicago, Kyoto, and Singapore tied for third place.
Chicago, on the south shore of Lake Michigan, was praised for its “breathtaking” architecture, while Singapore was the only city surveyed to receive two five-star ratings. It earned that reputation for its dining and shopping experience.
Kyoto, Japan’s former capital for more than 1,000 years and home to some of the country’s best historical attractions, has earned an impressive five-star rating for cultural attractions and tourist attractions. This is his one of only two cities to earn a rating in this survey.
Melbourne (83%) and Perth, Tokyo and Washington DC tied for sixth and seventh place at 82%.
At the other end of the spectrum, Las Vegas, often referred to as the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and famous for its huge casinos and star-studded shows, was the lowest scoring destination at 52%.
Chile’s capital Santiago and Los Angeles were in the bottom three with scores of 58% and 60%, respectively.
