More than a decade after the G1 and G2 made an impact on the DH World Cup privateer scene, Zerode Bikes is back on the world stage with the new G3, a DH platform with a new belt drive, gearbox. And with the launch of Zerode Racing, we are ready for the 2024 World Cup season.
Zerode bikes had a huge impact on the DH scene in the early 2010s with the launch of the G1. The G1 quickly gained a reputation for incredible suspension performance due to its low unsprung mass, centrally mounted gearbox, and high pivots. Under New Zealand’s fastest riders, the bikes proved they could run at international level. Despite the potential of the bikes and riders, the lack of resources at the time limited the formation of a full race team.
Fast forward to 2024, in a year when new bikes are coming out and some companies may see an opportunity to protect their core business and rein in racing spending, Zerode bucks that trend and builds on the current market. We see challenges as opportunities to impact society. Bigger scale.
With the support of key partners Gates Carbon Drive, Pinion and Hayes, Zerode Racing is gearing up for its biggest racing season yet.
The 2024 Zerode Racing line-up is Sam Blenkinsop (New Zealand) and Taylor Vernon (Great Britain).
Sam and Taylor have both been using the new G3 for a while and have been impressed with its stability and speed, and are excited about the capabilities of the new DH platform. With a team spirit focused on rider support above all else, Zerode plans to bring real excitement to his 2024 and capture the attention of established companies.
I’m really excited to be riding Zerode this season and it’s special to be riding a New Zealand designed bike. I’ve always been a fan of the brand from early on in my career, watching Rob rip through turns on the bikes he designed and built. It was always a dream for me, but I never lined up. We can’t wait to see what we can bring to the World Cup circuit! Let’s Goo Goo!
I’m really happy to be a part of Zerode Racing. It’s great to be back in the team unit and racing with a company that shares the same approach to very good bikes. Although being a privateer was tough, I was able to achieve my goal of returning to the race team. I look forward to checking off even more boxes in 2024!
