A West Yorkshire dentist is among 18 people competing to invest in the next series of The Apprentice.
VICI Dental owner Dr Paul Midha is set to put his business skills to the test on the hit BBC show.
This is not the dentist’s first TV appearance, having previously auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent and played an extra on a Disney TV show.
Here’s everything you need to know about a local businessman trying to woo Lord Sugar and his talented team of entrepreneurs.
Paul, who recently opened a new practice in Pudsey, set up his own dental group shortly after graduating from university.
After putting down a 20% down payment, he acquired his first dental practice and invested all the resources he had.
The move left him with just £100 in his bank account.
Fifteen months later, the dentist has seen the valuation of his practice rise to £900,000. This is an unusual increase of more than five times his original value.
He plans to ask Lord Sugar to invest in a product-based business plan for medical clothing.
He told the BBC: “I’m ready for extensive learning and know I have a lot to gain, and I have a long but rewarding journey ahead of me.”
Speaking about his biggest failure, Paul said, “Every setback I experienced, in hindsight, played a pivotal role in my subsequent success.
“But what I vastly underestimated was the 14-month timeline to complete the dental practice acquisition. This phase was challenging, but it taught me about resilience and adaptability. It taught me profound lessons and ultimately made me a better business person.”
Paul was gifted with body pop talent and appeared on numerous talent shows from a young age, including Britain’s Got Talent.
Those skills led to an exciting opportunity as an extra on a Disney television show.
Rachel Woolford, who runs a boutique fitness studio, is also part of this year’s Apprentice cast from West Yorkshire.
“Everyone in business has to work hard, but I work harder,” said the Roundhay-based businessman.
Further afield in Yorkshire, this year’s cast also includes Sheffield wellness brand owner Dr Asif Munaf.
He describes himself as “beauty, brains, body and business.”
Sales executive Oliver Medforth is also from Yorkshire and will draw on his background in the market.
Oliver is also busy managing five retail stores for his family business.
New series of “The Apprentice”
Series 18 will see Lord Sugar return with 18 new candidates alongside his trusted advisors Baroness Brady and Tim Campbell.
The new candidate will take on a new role in a bid to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment and mentorship.
The new series of The Apprentice is set to begin in the Scottish Highlands, with candidates from both the men’s and women’s teams being asked to organize a corporate hospitality challenge in which they host a luxury away day for their customers.
If you succeed in this challenge, you will complete many other tasks such as a virtual escape room, creating children’s cereals, buying discounts in Jersey, Budapest tourism challenge and reviving the infamous TV shopping channel task .
When will The Apprentice air on TV in 2024?
Planet Radio said the show had been postponed to accommodate the new series of Traitor, which began on the BBC on Wednesday (January 3).
Planet Radio said, “Despite the fact that “The Apprentice” is usually broadcast in early January, the 2024 series has been postponed due to the boss’s reasons to accommodate the second series of the reality show “The Traitors.” It has been postponed.”
He added, “It is currently being reported that ‘The Apprentice’ will land in February 2024.”
