What gets missed out is that OTAs address only a fraction of the total travel demand despite employing aggressive customer acquisition strategies, and that a decent proportion of the demand is fulfilled by offline marketplaces (that serve the B2E and B2B2C customers).
Our interactions with industry experts suggest both online as well as offline channels are benefitting from global travel tailwinds as demand is broadly secular across the channels. In fact, we see significant value creation happening through decently scaled up offline players, as the market is fragmented and serviced by unorganised players and, therefore, ripe for consolidation.
We believe Yatra – the largest B2E focused travel platform in India (basis number of corporate clients in FY23) – can be a major beneficiary of some of these trends and initiate coverage with a BUY rating and Mar’25 TP of INR 220.
