The Three Queens Ventures Women’s Business Accelerator Program, sponsored by SEAT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Inc., is expected to “support, empower, advise, and train” women entrepreneurs during the program.
The nonprofit’s four-month, 10-hour-per-week program is divided into weekly seminars, consulting sessions, and meetings with leaders. Affectionately named after her three queens: Mary, Agnes and Matilda. Known throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands, these women represent courageous, steady, and hard-working leaders.
Jennifer Sequeira, executive director of SEAT Caribbean and SEAT Innovation and Entrepreneurship, said she has always had a passion for entrepreneurship. “As an entrepreneur myself, and including previous roles as an academic at several universities, my teaching focus has been on entrepreneurship, minority entrepreneurs, and women entrepreneurs, and much of my research is focused on that area,” Sequeira said.
Sequeira, along with a group of other entrepreneurial women, recognized the challenges for women entrepreneurs, especially those without entrepreneurial experience. “So there are a lot of challenges for women not only to start a business, but to grow a business,” Sequeira says.
“The focus of our program is to help women develop and change the way they think about their business, rather than just doing the day-to-day tasks required to bring a product to market. , you have to prioritize working on your business.”
Participants can also expect to acquire skills and competencies that will help them tackle business itself and learn business best practices.
The accelerator program began in 2021 and is now in its fourth year. Topics attendees can expect include personalized consulting, personalized marketing and social media assistance, financial planning, small business management training, and more.
Upon completion, instructors expect participants to acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities that will help increase the company’s profits, potentially provide employment opportunities, and enable them to contribute to the economic development of the USVI.
The application deadline is Tuesday, January 30th. There is no application fee. However, once you are accepted into the program, you will need to pay a nominal fee of $150 to participate. The fee will be refunded as part of your seed funding at the end of the program.
Registration requirements are that the applicant must be a resident of the U.S. Virgin Islands, be at least 18 years of age at the time of program initiation, be the founder or owner of a business licensed in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and that the business be It needs to be managed.
