LinkedIn is introducing new features powered by artificial intelligence that aim to give job seekers an edge when searching for new opportunities. Powered by OpenAI’s Generated AI technology, this tool provides customized advice to help users position themselves as strong candidates.
New features include an AI-powered chatbot that is indicated by glowing emojis on job postings. Premium users can click on the emoji to open a chat window and ask questions about the role, company culture, benefits, and more. The chatbot provides bulleted answers based on LinkedIn’s treasure trove of company and industry data.
In addition to asking specific job questions, the AI assistant can also provide career advice based on content shared on a user’s LinkedIn feed. The goal is to provide personalized guidance as users navigate the often long and complex modern job application process. The update follows a series of AI rollouts on LinkedIn over the past year, including automated profile summaries, AI-generated job descriptions for employers, and personalized coaching experiences. These also occurred amid economic uncertainty and layoffs across the technology industry.
Even in a healthy job market, today’s hiring processes often involve more hurdles for candidates to overcome, such as complex application systems and multiple interviews and tests. LinkedIn’s latest AI offering seeks to level the playing field by providing insights and advice tailored to job seekers’ backgrounds and goals. The professional networking platform is increasing its artificial intelligence capabilities as LinkedIn’s parent company Microsoft continues to integrate AI into its suite of productivity tools.
