FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Kevin Nikirk says his fiancée, Annie, means everything to him.
“We’ve been together for almost six years now,” Nikirk said. “She’s honest and very kind. She’s the kindest person I’ve ever met. She’s just so happy to have met someone like this.”
Both have lived in Fort Wayne all their lives.
They are surrounded by family and are raising their son Caleb, who is currently 3 years old.
Life was good. Until November 2022.
“I know it’s hard, but I think what I’m going through is easy compared to what she’s going through,” Nikirk said.
Annie was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of sarcoma.
Nikaak says it was physically taxing.
“Her heart is broken and mine is broken because she can’t have the same access to her son as she used to,” Nikirk said.
The couple had planned to get married in October, but due to Annie’s worsening health, they had to postpone the wedding to March.
That leaves little time to find a venue and raise all the funds.
“They just wanted a small courthouse wedding and a ceremony afterwards,” Tanner Fernando said. “I said, ‘I want them to make some good memories while she still can.'”
Fernando is Kevin’s cousin and the organizer of this GoFundMe page set up to support Kevin and Annie’s dream wedding and honeymoon.
“I’m so grateful to have a family like this,” Nikirk said. “They spend every penny they can to make sure Annie and I have a great wedding.”
Nikaak hopes he can help make his fiancé’s special day.
“I just want her to have the perfect wedding,” Nikirk said. “I want her to like everything about this piece.”
