Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hadjidakis said in an interview with Kyodo News that Greece has an investment-friendly environment and is inviting investors from Japan to come to Greece.
The minister recalled that Japan’s Rating and Investment Information (R&I) rating agency had granted investment grade status to Greece for the first time and invited investors to invest in the country.
“Although we are far apart on the map, experience shows that we can work well together for the benefit of both countries,” he added.
Hatzidakis referred to the policies implemented by the Greek government to create an increasingly friendly environment for investment. “We have worked to reduce taxes and social security contributions as much as possible and reduce bureaucracy,” he said.
He also noted the shipping, logistics and tourism sectors in which Greece has a comparative advantage in investment.
“In terms of investment, we are more than satisfied with the results,” the minister said, before recalling the presence of major US investments in the country for the first time in decades, including Microsoft, Pfizer, Amazon, Google and Cisco. ” he said. “Therefore, we also invite Japanese companies to come to Greece,” Hadzidakis said.
He also noted the country’s political stability and significant progress in the Greek economy, and emphasized that the government is advocating for fiscal restraint.
