CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – At today’s regular City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council voted to approve recommended updates to City ordinances regarding roads, driveways, and sidewalks.
The Department of Public Works will now oversee the city’s road repairs and right-of-ways to accommodate existing and new development. This update strengthens collaboration between the City and the development community while ensuring that community investments in infrastructure are protected.
The proposed amendments would require higher standards for resurfacing new streets carved out by the private sector in partnership with public facilities, require improved coordination and notification of projects in public rights-of-way, and require safety and security. This includes introducing permit requirements for driveways, sidewalks, curbs and gutters to ensure safety. Conforms to city standards.
