Mokobara was born from the collective experience of 34-year-old founder Sangeet Agrawal and co-founder Navin Palwal, who had worked in prominent companies such as Urban Ladder, Flipkart, and Uber. Their passion for brand building and product design led to its creation. Agrawal, an avid traveler, got his luggage damaged during his trip. As he was looking for a quick replacement, he realized there was a real lack of visually stimulating, functional and appropriately priced options on the market.
“On the one hand, there were brands that offered low-quality products at low prices. And on the other hand, there were expensive foreign brands that cost more than a plane ticket for a trip,” he tells us.
Agrawal believes that modern travelers are all about their “travel uniform” and love to post and talk about it on social media. That’s why Mokobara aims to create designs that resonate with their aesthetic sense. “We also wanted to ensure that each design met the highest international standards for quality and functionality. We wanted the journey to be as enjoyable as the destination.” That’s why if you take a closer look at Mokobara, whether it’s our first cabin luggage design or our newest design, each Mokobara features travel-friendly features, including the addition of a hidden pocket to secure your passport or cell phone to your backpack. “You’ll find it has thoughtful features designed to enhance pleasure, including smooth-running Hinomoto wheels,” he says.
When Mokobara launched in 2020, they only had one design: Cabin Luggage. It’s a suitcase that the founder and team spent months designing and redesigning until they found the perfect balance between modern aesthetics and great functionality. “Since then, we have been able to expand our product portfolio to include backpacks, briefcases, tote bags and travel accessories. We have also recently expanded into the handbag and kids categories and are very pleased with our results. “I’m excited about the performance and the journey ahead,” he says.
In 2023, Mokobara achieved an important milestone. Following the opening of his first retail store, he has opened eight more stores and within the next 24 months he is gearing up for plans to open 100 new stores, witnessing the highest revenue per square foot by retail standards, etc. Did.
On the branding front, Mokobara has amassed over 200,000 followers on Instagram. Notably, we launched our first-ever limited edition luggage as part of our brand collaboration with IndiGo, which garnered over 20 million views. The year was also profitable for the brand, and going forward we will continue to focus on achieving positive EBITDA of his 20%.
It also aims to continue diversifying its product line with new categories, such as kids and fashion, introduced last year. The startup also aims to grow in the UAE in 2024 and expand its presence in West Asia and Southeast Asia in the future.
