Returns from this investment could foster growth in the county, particularly in the Okolona School District.
Okolona Elementary School is nearly 100 years old and in need of at least some repairs and renovations.
“This will add about $52 million to $54 million in tax revenue. It will also be split between the schools and the county. So this is not only a win for Chickasaw County, but a win for the Okolona school system. It’s also a win. This money could be used to build new schools,” Brooks said.
This solar power project is poised to bring a bright future to residents.
“Today is a great day for the present and future of Chickasaw County. We are really happy to have this opportunity and happy to finally bring economic development to Chickasaw County,” Brooks said. .
Brooks said the project could take three years to break ground. If this happens, it is expected to create more than 200 construction jobs.
