The Halifax County Foundation has awarded grants to three organizations throughout the 2024 cycle.
The award includes $1,706 to support arts programs provided to youth in Halifax County, $1,706 to the Halifax County South Boston Public Library to support the expansion of its summer reading program, and Patrick Henry. -Family Services was awarded $588 in family support. To be able to provide “Hope for Tomorrow” counseling services to children.
Patrick Henry Family Services was also awarded an additional $1,118 through the South Boston Medical Foundation.
The next cycle of online grant applications to the Halifax County Fund will begin on August 1, 2025. The Halifax County Fund is an area of interest fund that awards grants annually to charities located in South Boston or Halifax County. The South Boston Health Fund is a sectoral fund that provides grants to support indigent care and general philanthropy in South Boston and Halifax County.
Halifax County and South Boston charities receive funding annually through the Halifax County Foundation, South Boston Health Fund, Gideon Miller Cancer Fund, and Benjamin M. Sugg Foundation. These endowment funds were established by forward-thinking Halifax County and South Boston residents to provide permanent annual funding to local charities.
In its most recent strategic plan developed by its board of directors, the Community Foundation selected endowment development for Halifax County as a focus area. Anyone can donate to the endowment fund to help expand the grants available to organizations in South Boston and Halifax County. All donations to these funds will be distributed to the communities of Halifax County and South Boston.
