The Kansas City Chiefs and United Way will launch a fund to support the victims of the mass shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday, February 14th.
According to a statement posted by the Chiefs via their Instagram account on Friday, Feb. 16, the KCStrong Foundation will support “victims and their families, violence prevention and mental health services, and first responders.”
“We woke up as champions expecting to celebrate a day of victory,” the United Way of Greater Kansas City said in a statement. “Rather, February 14th will be remembered for the tragedy it was. This moment is an opportunity to channel our collective anger into action. This is why the Chiefs and United Way are working together to address these That’s why we are creating a special emergency fund to support our community’s efforts to heal and become more resilient in the wake of horrific events.”

The Chiefs also announced a $200,000 donation to the fund in partnership with the Hunt Family Foundation and the NFL.
