Local residents and community members around the Autryville area recently gained access to more diverse shopping thanks to Dollar General, which is opening another regular store in Sampson County. I did.
Construction on the new location will begin in October 2023, and Dollar General officials announced Tuesday the opening of the new DG Market at 1123 E Williams St. in Autryville.
“The new DG Market store format features the same categories, brands and products customers trust at Dollar General, plus an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables.” the company said in a press release.
These enhanced features are very visible and noticeable when compared to what you would expect as standard for a new store opening. As the name suggests, this new Dollar General is truly a marketplace. You can access all the products elsewhere, but the store presentation is very different.
A hybrid between a general store and a grocery store, DG Market stocks household goods, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, baby products, and other daily necessities, but with the added benefit of being a mini-grocery store. There are also special benefits.
“We are excited to offer our new DG Market format to Autryville residents and look forward to bringing customers to our new location,” Matthew Simonsen, DG’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, said in a release. I look forward to welcoming you.” “The new DG Market format is designed to provide the Autryville community with closer access to fresh, healthy food and a convenient place to buy the items you want and need at everyday low prices. We hope our customers enjoy our new store.”
It also states that the Autryville store will be stocked with new stylish and trending home decor items and party prep items. Another big highlight of the opening is that Dollar General officials said they are expanding employment opportunities, with plans to hire approximately 10 to 15 people, depending on a store’s individual needs.
With each new opening, the directorate will also provide community support initiatives for literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Schools, nonprofit organizations and libraries within a 25-mile radius of the store will have the opportunity to apply for grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
DG Market in Autryville is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
