LEMOINE, Pa. (WHTM) — Gov. Josh Shapiro, along with U.S. Rep. Patty Kim (D-Cumberland, Dauphin) and Borough President Gail Gallo, stopped in LeMoyne Tuesday to continue his Main Street Matters tour.
Mr. Shapiro’s proposed Main Street Matters program would be run through the Department of Community and Economic Development and would build on the Keystone Community Program. This program also supports downtowns, boulevards, and even surrounding areas.
Within the past week, Mr. Shapiro visited small businesses and their owners across the state to listen and learn what they need from state government to succeed.
“If we want to attract new businesses to Pennsylvania, support entrepreneurs, and create good-paying jobs, we need to create healthy, vibrant communities with stores and small businesses,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. We need to secure Main Street.” “The number of opportunities we can create for Pennsylvanians is directly related to the strength of our local businesses and Main Streets. My budget supports small businesses, downtowns, and Main Streets across Pennsylvania. We need $25 million for the new Main Street Matters initiative. These investments will make a huge difference across the commonwealth.”
“Our Main Street corridor can be considered a ‘welcome’ sign to our town and community. It reflects our pride and priority in our hometown and local businesses. ” said Congressman Kim.. “But many municipalities struggle to maintain their Main Streets, which is why I’m excited about the Governor’s proposed investments. We will revitalize the local economy while increasing pride in our community.”
“I want to thank Governor Shapiro for being here today. We are grateful for this new program, the $25 million that he has allocated in the Main Street Matters program budget. is money available for assistance,” Borough Council President Gallo said.
