Global network operators’ spending on AI for network orchestration will generate US$20 billion by 2028. In 2024 he will make 240% more than $6 billion.
juniper research predicts that the increasing use of cellular networks by enterprises, such as smart manufacturing and self-driving cars, will require further investment in AI to automate key network processes.
These use cases require varying levels of high throughput, low latency, and geographic coverage. Therefore, to maximize network efficiency and reduce operational costs, the report urges carriers to accelerate the embedding of AI into their core networks.
AI investments are essential for network performance and security
The report found that AI must play a key role as carriers expand established 5G networks and build future 6G networks. Performance optimization and network security were identified as the most important use cases. By 2028, it will account for more than 50% of global carrier spending on AI.
Additionally, as the demand for network function virtualization and cellular data continues to grow, carriers will deploy AI to reduce operational costs. We predicted that the ability to automate real-time network analysis and adjust network conditions accordingly will be critical to minimizing costs associated with network management and service delivery.
research author Frederick Savage “As carriers compete on network quality, AI will be essential to maximizing the value of using mobile networks for connectivity. They will gravitate toward networking.”
