I’m Alberto Camargo from the College Town neighborhood.
Outside Michiken Station, there is a space where anyone who wants to start a business can do so.
It’s been around for nearly a decade and continues to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“Marketing is the way to go. In my opinion, it’s what drives sales.”
Abby Dyer is a student at Florida State University and a marketing intern at Domi Station.
She has a dream of starting some business.
“I’m working on my skillset as a photographer and eventually want to turn it into my own business. And my ultimate dream goal is to open a coffee shop.”
Abby is in the perfect place to make that happen.
Domi Station is in its 10th year of helping Tallahassee entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into fast-growing realities.
Executive Director Kara Holbert says like most good things, it starts with learning.
“We provide incubation services, or education, to early-stage entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to expand their businesses.”
Through our partnership with Leon County, DomiStation sends an annual report on our local economic impact to the county Economic Vitality Office.
The impact for 2022-23 is as follows:
Sales and revenue from every business Domi serves contributes nearly $100 million to the Tallahassee economy.
This is a 25% increase over the previous year and shows promise for the recovery from the pandemic.
20 companies graduated from the incubation program by expanding beyond Domi support.
Domi also helped create more than 500 jobs, totaling $35 million in wages and revenue.
This is a track record of success and Abby is excited about her future.
“I think I gained a lot of tools here as an intern to learn all kinds of marketing tactics, what works best, what gets the most attention, what attracts people. And I think that will help us in our future business endeavors.”
As some companies grow out of Mr. Domi’s incubator, more will join in. According to Domi, he also added 12 companies to the latest group.
