Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund holds annual “Site Visit Sign-up Meeting”

The Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Foundation held its annual site visit sign-up meeting on February 7th at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. The event was attended by 70 members who participated in the Galantine celebration. Over the past few months, the foundation’s two grant committees have reviewed 34 grant applications focused on women and social services from San Diego County-based charities. Grant co-chairs Kathy Burch and Kathy Sage presented the requests of the 16 organizations to members and detailed the objectives of each project. Over the coming weeks, RSFWF members will be conducting in-person visits. This is a unique membership privilege for an in-depth look at these organizations and their programs. They plan to meet again in April for finalist presentations and member votes on funding. The selected organizations will receive up to $75,000 from a total grant of approximately $500,000, according to a news release.

During the event, Dani Snow, director of philanthropy for Catholic Charities of San Diego, updated members on the expansion of services for homeless women in San Diego through Rachel’s Women’s Center, a past grantee. Rachel’s Women’s Center is the only women-only day center in San Diego County and is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It provides a respite for women from the streets, while also acting as a gateway to a range of services. Homeless women who stay at the center benefit from on-site services, including sanitary facilities such as toilets, showers, and laundry facilities. They also receive two hot meals each day, have a mailing address, and access to alcohol and drug recovery services, behavioral health testing, and referrals. In 2022, RSFWF awarded her $50,000 grant to sustain the Rachel Women’s Center by funding supplies, food, hygiene products and staff.

In addition to providing grants that impact the community, the Women’s Fund provides opportunities for women to connect and get involved. Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund members can attend events, network with other women, participate in service projects, and learn about important issues in the community.
