Rhea Ripley retained her WWE Women’s World Championship with an emotional victory over Nia Jax in the main event of Elimination Chamber in front of her family in her native Australia. Ripley is currently heading to WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, where she will face the winner of the Women’s Chamber Match, Becky Lynch. Ripley outmatched Jax’s strength and emerged victorious from her Riptide.
Jax showed off her power throughout the match, but Ripley continued to try to get her back on her feet with chops and submission moves. At one point in the match, both women ran outside the ring. Ripley tripped Jax onto the apron and Jax appeared to hit her in the face. Ripley then moved away from the announce desk and attempted a powerbomb on Jax, but she was unable to lift her. Jax fights back and hits Ripley with a Samoan Undrop, slamming her into the announce desk, but when she doesn’t break down, she hits Ripley with an elbow, sending her crashing down. Ripley was able to avoid Jax’s second A-Near-Later in the ring. She drove Jax to the second rope for a suplex and then superkicked Riptide for the win.
