TAMPA, Fla. — Actor Dave Bautista is adding his support to a Midwest Florida animal rescue group in their search for information that could lead to the arrest of the person who threw three puppies from a car on Wednesday.

Bautista, 55, a former professional wrestler who stars in the upcoming movie “Dune: Part 2,” posted on the Tampa Bay Humane Society’s Instagram account on Friday that he would like to add to the $10,000 prize money already posted by the organization. He also promised $5,000.
Three puppies survived the impact after being thrown onto a road in north Tampa, but one of them died after being hit by another car, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
“Someone cruelly and cruelly threw three 8-week-old pointer/hound mixes out the window of a moving car and left them to die in agony,” the Humane Society of Tampa Bay said in a post. “This disregard for the lives of vulnerable people is unacceptable and, in fact, illegal. Violence against animals is almost always coupled with violence against humans and makes this community less safe. ”
A person living in the area spotted the dogs and alerted the Humane Society’s rescue team, the paper said. The surviving dogs suffered broken bones.
“Hearing this makes me sick to my stomach,” Bautista wrote in a response to the original Instagram post. “And when that happens in my community, I can’t help but take it personally. I would like to contribute an additional $5,000 to this reward.”
Baust offered a $5,000 reward for information about the person who abused the puppies he adopted from the Humane Society in 2021, the Times reported.

Kayla Faison, who discovered the dogs, told WTVT she heard “screaming.”
“If I hadn’t heard it, I probably wouldn’t have known it happened,” Faison told the TV station. And suddenly I hear a screeching sound, like car tires screeching. And then I hear a scream. ”
Faison said it was heartbreaking to see the puppies suffering on the ground. One of the animals had tire marks on its abdomen.
“It was really heartbreaking to hear them really suffer,” she told WTVT. “So as soon as I heard the sound, I came out. And when I saw the puppy, I fought back tears.”
The surviving puppies were named Luke and Leia, according to the Times. They will require further treatment, the newspaper said.
Regan Bressinger of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay said some people are struggling to care for their pets, and more dogs are being abandoned.
But she added that what happened to the three puppies was inexcusable.
“A lot of times people either don’t get caught, or if they get caught, they get minimal fines or something like that,” Bressinger told WTVT. “They absolutely need to be held more accountable.”
