The Charles Martin Colvey Fund was established at the Hudson Community Foundation in 2022 by a Hudson couple who loved their stillborn son, to support other families who have lost a child during pregnancy, childbirth, or shortly thereafter. The fund was established by David and Dr. Catherine Colvey, the parents of Charles Martin Colvey, who was stillborn on October 26, 2021, two weeks before his due date. The goal of the Colvi Fund, managed by HCF, is to partner with health systems and nonprofit organizations to identify families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss and ease their burden during their grief.
So far, support has included organizations that provide pregnancy and infant loss support programs, counseling for individuals, couples and families, bereavement bears, and photography services. Among them are the Cornerstone of Hope, Birthing Beautiful Communities, Stow Angel of Hope Statue, Brooks Bereavement Bears, Count the Kicks, and Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
“Through our foundation and by working closely with the Hudson Community Foundation, we are learning how to connect with a variety of nonprofit organizations and the resources available and available to families experiencing losses similar to ours.” “I was able to understand that,” said Kathryn Colvey. “The support provided by this fund is divided into four categories: memorial, grief, research and awareness, all designed to alleviate the burdens facing these families.” David Colvey said.
Supporting the Corvi Fund is Charlie’s Challenge Ride/Run/Walk, an event launched in September 2023 that has attracted more than 40 adults and 20 children and raised more than $20,000.
