LAKE TAHOE, CO – The Tahoe Foundation and the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Division are seeking artists to decorate restrooms in the Tahoe area.
They hired artists who wanted to decorate the bare interiors of restrooms at Crystal Bay’s Stateline Fire Lookout Trail, Logan Shoals Vista Point on Tahoe’s East Shore, and the Tallac Historic Site on the South Shore. looking for.
“We are excited to bring together the creativity of our local artist community,” said Tahoe Foundation CEO Amy Berry. “By painting murals on the walls inside restrooms, we hope to encourage people to be more respectful of their restroom spaces and, by extension, Tahoe’s environment.”
The idea was inspired by a similar project in Idaho and hopes to involve artists and community groups in California and Nevada.
“We are looking for artists who can use their creativity to seamlessly establish a ‘sense of place’ within the Tahoe region and inspire people to become stewards of their environment,” said LTBMU Public Service Employee. says Daniel Cressey. “Just as those who visit Lake Henry have experienced, our hope is that this surprising encounter with art depicting the beauty that surrounds us in Tahoe will inspire how each of us can make a difference.” It’s about being a fun and memorable way to think about what you can do.”
Paint for each mural is provided by Kelly Brothers Painting.
Interested artists should submit their proposals here no later than March 29 at 6 p.m. The artist will be judged and selected in April by the Tahoe Foundation, LTBMU, and selected community members.
Installation of the mural is expected to take place in May.
