Haverford – Discover Haverford is pleased to announce workshops and other support for budding entrepreneurs.
Discover Haverford is partnering with SCORE Chester County and Delaware County to offer a series of free workshops to support budding entrepreneurs this spring.

The first workshop, “Is Entrepreneurship for You?” will be held March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Community Recreation and Environmental Center in Haverford. This workshop will be moderated by Discover Haverford and SCORE and will feature Haverford Township business owners who have opened successfully in the past few years.
Panelists included Sweets on Derby bakery owner Gina Zasmary, Wild Birds Unlimited franchise owner Ben Labovitz, and interior designer Caroline Hendren House, which includes design businesses and retail spaces. They include Mr. Finnegan and Brian Niles, owner of roastery and cafe House Cup Coffee.
The second workshop, led by lawyer and SCORE volunteer Joseph Grecco on April 16 at 6 p.m., will explore “fundamentals” issues to consider when starting and running a small business. Joseph discusses topics such as the necessity and usefulness of creating a business plan, choosing a business organizational structure, registering a fictitious name, licensing, hiring employees vs. independent contractors, obtaining a tax identification number, and other related topics. Discover Haverford provides additional support to businesses wishing to open in town, including demographic, market and consumer research materials and a list of available properties in the ‘Doing Business’ section of the Discover Haverford website doing.
New businesses will be provided assistance with ribbon cutting and grand opening events and will be featured in our monthly newsletter.
