Wison, a Canadian who won $50,000 at the Las Vegas Open Wheel Showdown in December, expressed his excitement to be a part of the Children’s Dream Fund 50. He suggested that work would be interrupted due to the unusual chassis and engine package. He will also be competing on American Racer tires at a track he has never competed at before. He will be driving event promoter Dutton’s car.
Local drivers Tete and Reynolds were on hand. Both drivers are from Leesburg and the distance is approximately 45 minutes. Both drivers have completed many laps at Citrus County Speedway and both feel they will be able to do well in Saturday’s event due to their knowledge of the track despite the expected number of cars. .
Mr. Dutton, an event promoter, is on duty this week. Despite all the responsibilities involved in racing, he ends up driving the car for himself and Wison in the race. Dutton had fun, but he said he would breathe a sigh of relief once the checkered flag fell. Dutton and his daughter Sadie have been working with the Children’s Dream Foundation to use the race as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for nonprofit organizations. Wison was seen at the wheel of the Children’s Dream Fund-themed car that Dutton will be racing on Saturday during the exhibit on Wednesday.
