(NewsNation) — Hundreds of hair experts gather in San Diego to perform thousands of haircuts at “The The stage is set for “Great Cut 2024.”
The Longhairs co-founders Chris Healy and Lindsey Burt set a world record for the most hair donated to charity in 2019, and are aiming to beat their own record this year. .
“The current record is 339 pounds by hair…so that’s a mark to break,” Healy said in an interview on “NewsNation Prime” on Saturday.
Healy emphasized that while the majority of hair donations came from direct donations in San Diego, the majority came through the mail from donors around the world. “We are therefore looking forward to a large influx of hair donations by mail and ways for people to participate from near and far,” he added.
“When kids lose their hair, they lose confidence,” Barto explained. “Everyone has a story in this floodgate. And thousands of other people have a story in their hair. When we donate it, this story stays alive and our children… It will give you confidence.”
The hair donation deadline is set for March 15, and Mr Healy highlighted the various ways individuals can contribute even if they cannot donate hair directly.
Great Cut 2024 isn’t just about breaking records, it’s also about demonstrating the power of collective action to bring about meaningful change and uplifting children battling hair loss.
