KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s been nearly three weeks since the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally.
Since then, the Kansas City community has raised more than $1 million for the KC Strong Fund to support victims and other causes.
Now, even more past and present Chiefs players are helping raise money for the fund.
Chop It Up Travel Club and Lot J Tailgaters have partnered to support the KC Strong project. We plan special events throughout the month to give fans the opportunity to meet and get autographs from Chiefs players and alumni.
On Saturday afternoon, Chiefs Hall of Famer Neil Smith met with fans for the first time.
And on Sunday, Chiefs tackle Mike Pennell welcomed Chiefs Kingdom to Il Lazzarone Pizza in River Market.
He talked about how it felt to see fans rallying to support the victims of mass shootings.
“It feels good. I mean, you almost get used to being in the Chiefs kingdom because we have the best fans in the world. I’m not just saying that. I don’t love the same I’ve been to other places,” Pennell said.
Both groups plan to announce more events later this month. All proceeds will go to the KC Strong Fund and KCPD Care Team.
