Entrepreneurs from a variety of sectors across New South Wales will benefit from the ongoing UOW Business Incubator iAccelerate Regional Entrepreneurship Program.
iAccelerate, the University of Wollongong’s (UOW) business incubator, will continue its regional entrepreneurship program and deliver five new regional education programs in 2024 to help local businesses improve their capabilities and competitiveness.
The program aims to support local entrepreneurs who are committed to sustainability and take on big challenges, with a focus on key industries.
Key sectors include fisheries and aquaculture, advanced manufacturing, circularity, ecotourism and quality food production, targeting entrepreneurs across New South Wales.
Ainsley Tweedie, Regional Entrepreneurship Manager at iAccelerate, said: It’s about helping people get really clear about where they want their business to go. We support them in working on their business, not theirs. ”
“Each cohort is specialized, allowing you to dive deep into the details of that industry and learn from industry mentors,” Tweedy said.
The iAccelerate RISE program brings together the expertise of pre-accelerator facilitators, UOW academics and industry experts to help local entrepreneurs tackle big problems. iAccelerate has partnered with the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation to support circularity in the fishing and aquaculture industry.
Through an eight-week program, RISE provides local entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools to pursue new innovations and bring their ideas to life in their current businesses and startups. .
Deborah McLaughlin, a Southern Highlands-based entrepreneur and founder of The Honey Thief, completed the RISE program in 2022.
McLaughlin says, “RISE opened my eyes to things I hadn’t thought about before in my business. Understanding what information is needed and concisely summarizing it to get attention is the key element. And we were able to put together a successful pitch.”
RISE offers hands-on workshops, online learning, and a network of regional and international experts to help you grow and expand your business. Businesses can apply from anywhere in regional NSW to join a group of like-minded entrepreneurs.
