Congratulations to β€œOppenheimer”! Great movie. But “Poor Things” is the best movie of last year.

stock market

Enjoy the trends after the weekend!

These past few days have been important for the NBA, and have had a huge impact on how the NBA stock market check will be approached on Monday morning. Massive winning streaks are achieved, and no one has a winning streak of more than four. His embarrassing losing streak is gone, and his longest active record is now three consecutive losses. Let’s break down what you need to know about the league.

πŸ“ˆ Luka Doncic. The Mavs star has had a 30-point triple-double for the sixth year in a row — six years in a row! He is the first player in NBA history to accomplish this. Dallas is just 3-3 in that span, but Doncic averaged 36.3 points, 11.5 assists, and 11.0 rebounds in that span. And what about the games before this winning streak started? He had 45 points, 14 assists, and 9 rebounds. That’s completely unreasonable.

πŸ“ˆ OKC Thunder. They are on a roll again and are in first place in the West. They are one game behind Denver and 1.5 games behind Minnesota. The Thunder have won 10 of their last 12 games. Seven of those games were overwhelming wins. Due to the Timberwolves’ injuries, OKC may charge for home court advantage with 18 games remaining.

πŸ“‰ irony. The Wizards had lost 16 in a row, and all eyes were on the possibility of losing 27 in a row when they faced Detroit in a few weeks. So how did it go? The Hornets ruined our fun. Charlotte lost by 12 points to the worst defense in the NBA and barely managed to score 100 points. In fact, the Wizards are currently on a two-game winning streak since Miami suffered an embarrassing loss at home to Washington yesterday. We can’t do anything fun.

πŸ“‰ injured player It’s becoming very common around the NBA. Alperen Shengun went down with potentially serious injuries to his leg in Sacramento on Sunday. Stephen Curry twisted his ankle and will miss time. Knicks is still seriously injured. Victor Wembaneyama is absent (ankle). Scottie Barnes is absent. Benedict Mathurin is out for the season. Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley are injured, as is Trae Young. Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid are absent. These are major names!

πŸ“ˆ Nora Pelicans. I can’t say enough about the strength of the 5th place Pelicans. I know everyone is waiting to see if they can be healthy for the playoffs, but Willie Green is doing a great job with them. They rank in the top eight in both offense and defense, and currently boast the NBA’s longest winning streak (four straight wins). They have won 13 of their past 17 games.

πŸ“‰ Utah Jazz. Did you know that the Jazz are obligated to give the Thunder a first-round pick if it’s outside the top 10? Did you know that Utah is currently No. 11 without any draft lottery miracles? Hey, look at that! The Jazz have lost 10 of their last 12 games. What a coincidence!

$100,000 fine

Rudy Gobert talks about a very sensitive NBA subject

Over the weekend, the NBA fined Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert $100,000 for making inappropriate gestures and criticizing officials after the Wolves lost in overtime to Cleveland on Friday night. was punished. Gobert was hit with a technical hit near the end of the fourth quarter, and Cleveland was tied with a one-point lead. Why technical? After a clear foul was called on Gobert, he began rubbing the fingers of his hands together. Was he celebrating Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito?🀌), Gobert either confirmed that he still had feeling in his fingers or implied that the referee was not in this match for gambling reasons. But it wasn’t supposed to be that way that, right? After the game, Gobert said:

“My reaction, I think it’s true, that’s what I really believe, even if it was true, it wasn’t the time for me to react like that. I shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t. I cost the team a game and obviously they couldn’t wait to give me the technique. That was no good. It was an immature reaction.”

Um… what? Perhaps Rudy didn’t mean to imply that his gesture was “true.” When asked to clarify what he was alluding to, he continued:

“I think it’s hurting our game. I know the stakes and all of that is getting bigger and bigger, but it shouldn’t feel that way.”

oh. Okay. Hmm…that’s unpleasant. I wonder how many players around the league believe that gambling really infiltrates the way games are called. That’s because it’s a very serious accusation for someone to hint at that, and then double down on it in a post-game interview. And Gobert is kind of the wrong messenger. The main reason for that is that he has been on record complaining and whining about small market bias, and he has said that the league is fully in support of larger markets winning over smaller markets. Because that’s what I’m thinking.

But whoever the messenger is, Adam Silver and the league office must be furious that this was said out loud. The league is open to sports gambling. It’s everywhere in sports broadcasts, conversations, and league broadcasts. Silver’s next comments on this will be interesting.

Would you like to talk a little bit about the Oscars?

Yes, this is a basketball newsletter, but we don’t want to limit ourselves to one thing. Especially not when it comes to something as pop-culture related as Sunday’s Academy Awards. Here’s what happened last night in bite-sized movie popcorn.

  • Congratulations to director Christopher Nolan. Thanks to Oppenheimer, he has won Oscars for two of his eight films, making him the Jerry West director.
  • “Poor thing”: This was my favorite movie of last year, even though it’s not called “John Wick 4.” Emma Stone was a well-deserved winner for Best Actress, but Lily Gladstone had a very strong case.
  • Starring John Cena: Although he played “pranks” by running around the stage, he only gave “Nude” the award for best costume. There was even a joke that wrestling in jorts was worse than naked.
  • Mark Ruffalo was robbed! Congratulations to Robert Downey Jr. for winning the Best Supporting Actor award, but the Best Supporting Actor award went to Ruffalo for Poor Things.
  • Jimmy Kimmel is a very solid host. I get that he’s not your thing, but he’s always nice for a little while.
  • Shout out to your publicist! They had a big night after Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Actress for her amazing role in The Holdovers and gave a big shout out to her publicist.

And best of all, Nicolas Cage was in attendance for the Best Actor award presentation. He is still the king of all.

Screen Game (All Time Eastern)

  • Main screen: Warriors vs. Spurs (8 p.m. NBA TV). It’s true that Wenby and Curry are missing for this game, but the Warriors are in desperate need of revenge from last game.
  • Second screen: Mavs vs. Bulls (8 p.m.). Doncic is on fire. DeMar DeRozan is also under fire. Look at the duel between these men.
  • League Pass Game of the Night: Suns vs. Cavs (7:30 p.m.). The Cavs are missing several starters, but he needs this win to become the No. 2 seed again. Click here for detailed schedule.
