GREENSBORO, N.C. — If you’re a small business owner or dream of running a small business, Greensboro has an event with you in mind.
This week, the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce is focusing on helping those looking to grow their small business or learn more about what it takes to become a business owner. We will be holding our first Startup Week.
Small business owners often face a variety of challenges to take their business to the next level.
This is something Joey Cheek, executive vice president of entrepreneurship for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, has first-hand experience dealing with.
“I started my first company right out of college,” Cheek said. “And I made all the stupid mistakes a young entrepreneur can make…I didn’t get any help and didn’t know how to deal with it.” Getting my product to market There were no developers. ”
However, Cheek learned from his mistakes and surrounded himself with people who could learn from him. He said it made him better prepared for his next business venture.
“It’s so hard to know what not to do when starting your own business,” Cheek said. “By listening to people, you can save more time.”
That’s why he created Greensboro’s first Startup Week, created just for people who are starting their own business or want to start their own business.
“We have a great ecosystem and great entrepreneurs here in Greensboro, but we just didn’t have a great way to connect it all together,” Cheek explained. “We’ve seen in other cities that Startup Week is a really catalytic event.” That’s what we want to do here. ”
Free sessions will be held throughout the week and will cover a variety of topics with a focus on providing people with the information and skills they need to grow their businesses.
“We have great sessions with people who will help you learn law, learn how to raise money, learn how to go to a bank if you need a bank transaction, and learn how to grow a big company. ” Cheek said.
Tiffany Perrincor is the owner and CEO of Tiff Tough Solutions, a small business specializing in building inspection and renovation. As a new business owner, she was excited to hear more about this week’s events.
“I want to know how to structure my business properly. “I want to do everything right. I know this is a week-long process. I would also like to learn more details,” Perrincole said. ”
With classes ranging from sales to banking to AI, Perrincor is ready to leverage his resources.
“I am preparing myself to attend these classes,” she said.
All 14 sessions this week are free, but seating is limited, so Cheek recommends signing up as soon as possible.
