Monster Hunter World is a monster hit from Capcom that has sold over 25 million copies since its release in 2018.
Capcom has announced a sales milestone to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series. The first Monster Hunter game was released on his PlayStation 2 in March 2004. Twenty years later, Monster Hunter World is undoubtedly Capcom’s best-selling game, with 2021’s Monster Hunter Rise second only with his 14.2 million copies sold.
Capcom hits the 25 million sales mark, including sales of the Monster Hunter World base game and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition. The sales volume of “Monster Hunter World” was 19.6 million units as of the end of 2023, but “Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition” had sold 24.1 million units as of December 31, exceeding 25 million units.
The Master Edition bundles Monster Hunter World with the Iceborne expansion, and has sold an impressive 11.6 million copies since its release in 2019. Cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series have now reached 97 million copies, Capcom added.
“With Monster Hunter World, Capcom has elevated the Monster Hunter series to the status of a global brand through the series’ first simultaneous global release and international promotional efforts, making the game the best-selling game in Capcom’s history within a month of release. It has become an established title,” Capcom said.
“In the six years since the game’s release, Capcom has continued to promote digital sales, and “Monster Hunter World” has achieved a new record in Capcom’s history with cumulative sales of 25 million units.Furthermore, in December last year, Capcom Wild” and announced that the latest work in the series is scheduled to be released in 2025, attracting a lot of attention.
“Capcom remains committed to leveraging our industry-leading game development capabilities to meet the expectations of all our users by creating highly entertaining gameplay experiences.”
Monster Hunter Wilds was announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam during The Game Awards 2023. His debut trailer showed players riding across a desert in a new bird-like vehicle, chased by a sandstorm.
