World of Outlaws officials arrested late model driver Bobby Pierce for failing a tire test after competing in the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model event on February 16, 2024 at Volusia Speedway Park. was suspended and fined.
Tire samples were taken after the feature was completed at the event and sent to an independent laboratory for comparative analysis to test for chemical alterations in the tires.
Testing revealed that this tire did not match or comply with benchmarks provided by Hoosier Tire Company. Additional analyzes confirmed the primary laboratory findings.
As a result of this violation, Pearce was disqualified from the event, fined $1,000, paid a $400 tire analysis fee, lost $7,000 in prize money at the event, and received a total fine of $8,400, plus a 30-year ban from all World Racing Group events. He received a one-day suspension. The following four events on the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series schedule will be completed (whichever occurs last) and 294 Series Owner and Driver Points will be lost for the 2024 season.
The rules regarding series tires are as follows:
Chapter 1 Section 7 Penalties and Fines Provisions
Any member attempting to use and/or found using tires that are found to be illegal in any way may be subject to disqualification, fines, suspension, loss of points, and/or as we deem appropriate. Subject to other measures. Supervisor of the World Racing Group.
The minimum penalties for tires that do not meet the benchmarks are:
disqualification from the event and;
Championship Points and Track Points Fine up to 1,000 points.

Suspension for a minimum of 1 month or 4 races and a maximum of 6 months.
Test costs
Penalties, including fines and suspensions, may involve the driver, crew chief, vehicle and vehicle owner as listed in the penalty notice.
Chapter 3 Technical Regulations, Section 11-C
Chemical alteration of tire lettering and/or tire stamps, vulcanization, tire softening, staining, and/or surface modification is not permitted. The use of chemicals or tire softeners is prohibited under any circumstances.
