Matrix Fight Night (MFN) is a pioneer in Indian mixed martial arts (MMA) founded by Bollywood mother-daughter duo Ayesha Shroff and Krishna Shroff. Since his debut in March 2019, MFN has hosted 13 successful events and has become synonymous with Indian MMA, garnering over 100 million digital impressions.
When asked if her children practicing martial arts inspired her to start MFN, Ayesha agrees. “I believe that my children grew up because of martial arts. They both practiced martial arts from an early age. “I think martial arts helped shape my children a lot.On the other hand, MFN So it’s a very different path. A few years ago, my son was in an MMA league, and he was a co-owner of one of the teams.”As part of his duties, he attended certain events. I was supposed to attend. Then, as it happened, there was a shoot to be filmed one weekend and he was unable to be free to attend, so he asked his daughter and I to go in his place. I ended up watching the event and was hooked for life. I can’t even explain the elation I felt at that moment. And it was like the excitement of watching an MMA fight live. At that point I just looked at my daughter. And I said, “This is what we should do,” Krishna said, and we launched MFN. And this was in March 2019. And now we’re on the brink of MFN 14. And it was an amazing journey. ”
Speaking about his journey as a co-founder, Krishna says: “I’ve been following this sport for as long as I can remember, and I especially have a lot of respect for the athletes in this sport. That’s what led me in this direction.” I grew up playing this sport. But what these men and women are doing is very special. It takes a very unique individual to do what they do or what they can do. And that’s what’s really fascinating. For me, being so close to these men and women is a blessing and very motivating. Because, to be honest, and I can speak for myself, when I started this sport, it was not professionally, but only for fitness purposes, of course. Training in the gym has helped me develop discipline and focus, which I didn’t necessarily have as a teenager. “I consider this proximity a blessing, and this is the best decision of my life.”
At the time they joined this movement, the community in India was very small. And there was no structure for MMA promotion. When they entered the business, their first challenge was educating people about what MMA was. Sponsors didn’t know the difference between MMA and WWE. People were a little skeptical because this is a martial art. “India is a very peace-loving country. Do we like something this solid, a man and a woman in a cage, a woman and a woman in a cage? Is that attractive?” These are the duo was the question I fought for. At the first event, 2000 people attended the show. MFN is currently preparing for its 14th edition to be held in April of this year. The two have also opened a gym franchise, allowing people to train anywhere.
