“We are very grateful to the Highmark West Virginia Charitable Foundation for their efforts in creating this new scholarship program for students in the nursing program.” said University President Erike S. Cage. “Our nursing program is expanding to meet the needs of West Virginia’s healthcare industry, and this new scholarship program will be a tremendous benefit to our students.”
Up to 10 scholarships per year to cover the cost of nursing programs for students pursuing a traditional baccalaureate degree in nursing or a hybrid baccalaureate degree in nursing from a new certified nurse practitioner. will be awarded.
“Finding ways to address the state’s health care worker shortage is a fundraising priority for the Highmark West Virginia Health Charitable Fund, and we are excited to partner on such an important effort. .” said Kathy McAllister, executive director of Highmark West Virginia Charitable Foundation. “The purpose of the West Virginia State University Nursing Scholarship for Students is to ease the financial burden for those who want to build a lifelong career providing care for individuals and families in West Virginia.”
West Virginia State University’s Bachelor of Nursing degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The university’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program launched in 2020. He plans to enroll in this program in the fall 2024 semester.
