(The Hill) — Most Americans say there will be another world war within the next five to 10 years, according to a new YouGov poll.
Approximately 61 percent of Americans surveyed said they were either:[v]Probably” or “[s]There is a good chance that another world war will occur within the next 5-10 years. In the same survey, about 18 percent of Americans said they[n]As for the possibility of another world war occurring within the same period, it is certainly true.
The survey also found that about 21 percent of Americans say they expect another world war to occur within the next five to 10 years.[n]very unlikely” or “[n]Not at all likely. ”
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said last month that former President Trump’s recent comments about NATO are setting the stage for a new world war. He took issue with President Trump’s remarks at a rally that he would not protect European NATO members if they were “delinquent” in making payments to the security alliance.
In an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Moskowitz said, “Donald Trump talks about dealing with Russia, but if Russia starts invading Europe, World War III will start.” I guess so.”
“Donald Trump is talking about it and setting the stage. It’s wrong for every world leader other than Vladimir Putin to look at this and say, ‘America can’t bring him back as president.’ No,” Moskowitz continued.
Other findings from the YouGov survey included that about 53 percent of Americans say they would prevail in a conflict between the West and its allies and Russia and its allies. Only about 11% said Russia and her allies would prevail over the West and its allies.
The YouGov survey was conducted among 1,000 people between February 1 and 7 and had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
