A £5m investment was made in the Gonerby Road site and the center was equipped with an MRI and CT scanner.
Health centers offering tests to patients outside of hospitals have expanded.
A state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanner has been installed at the NHS Community Diagnostic Center (CDC) in Grantham.
The £5 million investment at the site in Gonaby Road, Gonaby Hill Foot, is the latest development in Lincolnshire’s NHS CDC programme.
CDC program director Claire Lloyd said it has already supported “more than 75,000 diagnostic tests.”
The site of the former Moi Park Hatchery opened as a CDC in April 2022.
The facility also includes patient changing areas, additional clinical preparation areas, a large scanner control room, and staff rooms.
Further investment from United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board has enabled the expansion of the CDC.

The MRI scanner was built with additional investment from Lincolnshire NHS Board.
With a referral from a health care professional, patients can access the following services:
- simple film x-ray
- Non-obstetric ultrasound examination
- echocardiogram
- diabetic eye screening
- DEXA scan
- MRI scan
- CT scan
- AAA screening

Other facilities at the Grantham CDC include changing rooms and additional clinical preparation areas.
Mr Lloyd added: “All of these planned appointments will be carried out exactly as they would be in our hospital, including the same clinical teams and IT systems, but any potential interruptions due to urgent care will be there is no.”
“Patients can be seen sooner and potentially in a quieter environment closer to home.”
“The line has disappeared.”
Andrew David worked with Grantham CDC, supporting the program as a patient representative and helping to shape developments at the site and elsewhere in Lincolnshire.
“No more lines, no more delays, no more dark hallways,” he said.
David added that the center was on a “completely different level” with “clean, fast, efficient service”, staff who made you feel “completely at ease” and free parking.
Other plans for the 2024 CDC program include the £38 million development of two new CDCs at Lincoln Science and Innovation Park and Skegness.
