From staff report
Total donations to the Lonely Child Fund now total nearly $18,000. But more money is needed to reach this year’s goal of $30,000.
The donation schedule does not end at Christmas and those who wish to donate can still donate.
Since late November, social workers and others from the Iredell County Department of Social Services, as well as foster parents, have been writing about what the Lonely Child Fund means for children in the county’s foster care facilities.
If your donation means your child can purchase a school photo, pay for athletic fees, take a field trip, get a yearbook, attend prom, or pay for graduation. there is.
These children are placed in foster care through no fault of their own. Perhaps their placement is due to substance abuse by one or both parents, or the parents may not be able to care for the child at this time. Whatever the reason, these kids want and deserve the same things as their peers, even if it’s something as simple as taking pictures at school or playing sports.

For these kids, it means more than just access to money. It means a sense of normalcy when their lives are uprooted.
The needs of foster children do not end on December 25th. We hope that your generosity, which has made this program a success for over 60 years, will continue in the same way.
If you have already donated to the Lonely Children Fund, thank you. Your donation is making a difference for many children in foster care. If you still wish to donate, please mail your donation to the Iredell County Social Services Department at 549 Eastside Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.
